It's a new baby girl!

She was born October 1st, 2009. 7lbs 9oz, 21 inches long. Took a couple of weeks off from work and just about everything else, only to discover getting back in the saddle is really hard! Sometimes you need a helping hand, or a slap of pure motivation. Such as this e-mail I got this morning from the Machinima Expo (coming up Nov 22!!!) asking me to Scope this page for anything familiar.

So with that, I'm positively thrilled to announce that Rise will be screened at the Expo! I hope to see you there!

Taking a Pause to Reflect

What happened to my autumn? Things have been zooming by so fast these past two months, I'm not even sure where I'm supposed to be anymore. I technically don't even have a home, so much as a loving place to stay for a bit. For a fleeting moment, I even forgot who I was supposed to be. I did take some time to stop and photograph the changing trees, but it seems so long ago now that it's as if it could have been last year's camping trip.

Well, the move is 99% completed. All that's left is a big trash run, and figuring out what to do with the now useless the lawn equipment. In a weird way, it feels like I'm just on sabbatical, and everything will be like it was when I wake up tomorrow. That's stress to a degree I am quite unaccustomed. I even decided last night to completely skip the annual family Thanksgiving trip, when I realized that I was likely to fail my CCNA class next December without a serious time out to study up. One thing I dislike more than moving and loosing our office, and that's wasting time by failing classes.

As much turmoil has been floating about my waters these past months, I do take solace in those few bright lights that shone through clouds. Bush is finally out of there, and we elected someone who can at least form complete sentences. Can't say I'm a big fan of his politics, but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't like him. The Machinima Expo went down very well, I had an amazing time at the panels and watching some quality machinima flicks. I was so impressed, I even felt the need to phone in my accolades. But, perhaps the greatest solace this month was a Quantum of Solace (come on, you saw this coming!) which, from an action movie junkies perspective, was the greatest 007 film ever made. Ever. God I loved that movie.

For now, I'm just going to kick back, relax, and enjoy the ever-living hell out of my weekend. Maybe eat me some of this really yummy looking candy.

Music and Surviving 9 to 5

Some days are long. Really, really long. Some days you're doomed to your office (sheeyeahright!), and some workplaces block all the good stuff. (I can honestly say, it's my own fault... I wrote half the block list!)

Sometimes, music is the only thing we have.

Not sure where I first got wind of the thing, but I found this site several months ago, and I've been hooked like a fish with a death wish. It's basically a social bookmarking site, like digg or reddit, but for music. They stream in music on the big list, and if you like it, you can add it, or bump it up. It's got some RPG elements going too. My roommates and I gtalk links to the sweet songs at least once a week, and it's just a ton of fun to promote your favorites. What I really enjoy, is that they give the artist free reign over their MP3s: buy, download, both or neither! For the camping road trip, I burned what I could from my playlist to CD, and it was quite the conversation piece over those longer stretches of Texas nothingness...

Fellow adventurers, readers:

I wish today to introduce to you my good friend Stanley. Things always seem to be looking pretty down and out, but old Stanley never gives in. Reflecting on it now, that's probably the only thing likable about him. For much of his life Stanley lived in stagnation, devoid of light and motivation. Then, he was shaken by a dream. A dream of a future so certain and absolute, that it shook the very foundations of his hellish world. The only choices left for Stanley were to do what he had always done, or challenge everything. It was wrought with chaos and strife, it teased the bitter edge, but Stanley made his choice and took up arms. Through happenstance and choice alike he would enrich the lives of many, like a crazy delicious cream-centered Twinkie. For others, he would serve as a looking glass into hell.

What befalls him shall be for reveled the first time, right here at deadonque.com. His inner most secret fears and dreams exposed for all to see! Adventurers, readers, please join us as four noble observers tell of Stanley, and his daring escape from a life not lived!
